Been wondering the same as to why people still act all surprised and offended whenever this happens. Nintendo’s stance has been quite clear and you’re walking on thin ice if you decide to base your content on modded stuff. They should be well aware of the risk of getting caught in the enforcement policies.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

“Call of Duty gamers are passionate, knowledgeable, and sophisticated.”

Woke is just a catch-all term that, to them, describes anything remotely left of center to their worldview, which is so far to the right that basically anything could fall into that purview.

Anyone who uses the term “woke” to downplay something has typically been unable to actually give me a definition of what the word even means. They just don’t like it, so therefore it’s “woke”.

This world is becoming dumber, I swear..

Right.

Wow that is SO much better!! Thank you, any doubt about that future purchase is totally gone.

Beat me to it. My local PD has two spots with signs that say “for internet transactions”

This I why I tell people to have all Craiglist-type deals carried out in the parking lot of the local police station. If they’re desperate enough to try and rob you there then the police need to know about it immediately, plus they’ll have their evidence on camera already.

This shit just tacitly reinforces companies heavy-handed anti-piracy measures. The game is barely a day old.

Yeah. Someone in the comments is trying to rationalize it by saying, “Oh it’s more encouraging the downloading of a Switch emulator which isn’t illegal!”

Me too. I’m all ok for older games and mostly stuff that you can’t legitimately buy anymore, but this is simply wrong. As a gamer, and even a passionate retro gamer using his fair share of emulators from time to time, this is... just wrong. I mean, how can you label yourself a gamer and not be ashamed of not

It isn’t just this article. News of Dread running on these emulators is already spreading through Twitter and Reddit. My problem is that now, a significant amount of people are going to take this new ‘path of least resistance’ and not bother to buy the game.

Yes.

It is a Switch exclusive, as you might expect. But all you need is a Switch emulator and a decently powerful PC, and you can play Dread on your computer, right now.”

You’re saying a company is not entitled to make money on a product they released one day ago?

I’m not fond of articles like these. The tone is encouraging persons to pirate the game.

I didn’t have the exact words for why this article made me uneasy, but this is it. You nailed it. I support archival and even deeper rights for the end user of software than currently exist, but this... this feels wrong.

Older games, I can understand - but encouraging the torrenting/pirating of a game one day after its’ release? For fuck’s sake.

Sony. Folders. How have you had to add folders after-the-fact on three consecutive console releases?
