No castings as Leo’s wife for YOU!

And here is our mascot.

I kind of want a real cat to be inside that.

Women should also avoid spaces where men are likely to be present, because men may strike at any time, especially if provoked. A man who is about to strike will raise himself into an intimidating posture and then shake the rattle on his tail in order to warn away a woman who he sees as a potential target.

I don’t think it’s a desire for payback, per se. Just, if you’re one of the last ones to get married and the novelty has worn off for those in your social circle, you do get the proverbial short end of the stick. People should be just as excited for YOU as they were for the first friend in the circle to get married.

I mean, all you have to do to make a picture good is make everything black and white except the rose, right?

He hates the Muslim infidels and the homos. That’s all they need.

People looking at this through the lens of what you currently spend on new clothes: that’s not the point.

What you’re describing isn’t what my issue was with this piece at all. I absolutely see how things can snowball. My issue with THIS writer (not your brother or ALL people who owe child support) is that this piece is whining about how he doesn’t make enough from WRITING anymore to pay his child support and he owes

My brother is in this situation. he had a decent job and was able to make the payments. Got laid off and within a year was homeless living in his van. Child support, bills snowballed. After 3 years of being homeless, he managed to get a low paying but a job! It paid about $12/hour and had his wages garnished so was

You are not an asshole. I came down here for the comments because, yeah, you don’t get to keep following a dream that isn’t working for you when you have the responsibility to support your own damned children. They aren’t just going to suddenly stop needing to eat or needing a place to live. I don’t even HAVE kids and

How many dads out there have worked for 20-30 years at a job they just couldn’t effing stand, all in order to support their wives who were stay-at-home mothers, and their kids (women are now starting to fill this role, but the numbers aren’t even close in terms of % of population)?

I work two jobs, a security guard and part time as a stocker at a grocery store. Between the two I pull in 39k and some change. Neither of these jobs require degrees. Neither of them require experience.

He also doesn’t mention being any part of the day-to-day labor of raising a child. I would have had a totally different reaction to this piece if he had said “I don’t make enough money to pay child support, but my flexible schedule means that I do all the after-school pick-ups, sick-day care-taking, etc...” Instead,

Minimum wage pays better. Freelance writing and work at McDonalds.

I half agree. I was thinking the same thing, but I did find the punative parts interesting. It does seem counterproductive to punish someone who makes 10k a year for not paying child support by suspending their driver’s license or incarcerating them. That’s certainly not going to help anyone make *more* money.

I was thinking the same thing. He sounds like a nice guy, but after you have children you have to adult up and do what you have to do to support them. And if your writing career makes $10k/year, then you need to find a new career. I realize finding jobs is hard, but if he can make $10k writing, I’m sure he can figure

I really like the idea of a counterpoint article from the ex. That would be a valuable perspective.

That was my takeaway. Boo-hoo. What about the women you stuck with your kids that now have to take on added financial burdens because you won’t find a job?
