I’ve had a wee thing for Yamaha’s 270 Degree IL twins since the TRX850, they just sound so good, they’re super compact and the daily road going usability of that torque curve is just brilliant. It warms my cockles to see them keeping this motor configuration alive and gently massaging it as the years tick over.

It was an M50TUB25 which was pulled out and swapped with an M52B28 (single coolant temp sensor version). I took my father in laws E24 M635i for a hoon a couple of weeks ago. That M88-3 is one of history’s great motors! It just keeps pulling and pulling and pulling. The torque is everywhere, don’t get me started on the harmonic accompaniment of those delicious individual throttles! SEX!

We have broken ass $2000 R32s and R33s all over the country with shit paintwork, home job mufflers, cut springs, $50 blow off valves and turbo leaks. You can have em’! Every last stinkin’ one! Have you ridden one? The cb1300 I mean. They're pretty dull to be honest, the power just tapers off at 6krpm then it's close the blinds and go to bed. The Yamaha on the other hand comes on cam at 6krpm good n' proper, then it's all fireworks until 10krpm at which point you'll be wanting the next cog.

I miss the NA 2000cc rules. These new 1600cc boosted cars just don't have that "death scream of a rabid banshee" from a jacked up NA 2L 4 banger at 8000RPM. A noise that my neighbors love to hate I'm sure :P
