1. The 4.2L V8 got shoehorned into the B7, so cramming the W8 into the B5.5 had poor yields from a lifecycle perspective, even if it meant that some front subframe engineer would have had to spend an extra month adding 10 kg of gussets.

My wife’s Thinkpad X1 was $2k. A comparable Macbook Air or Pro is going to be right in the same pocket. If you live on your computer, it’s worth it. Decent keyboard (not Thinkpad good)? Yes please. Mac trackpad? Of course. All day battery? Gee thanks! Fanless? Uh huh. Fast? Sold.
