That appears to be black code for “blacks only”...POC isn’t really a thing in the BLM community, from what I’ve seen.

I kept thinking “who is that guy with the teeth who thinks everything is so hilarious?” And then I realized he was sitting next to Jennifer Lawrence, and is probably that director who keeps casting Jennifer Lawrence in every female role.

You’re right. which, and I said this over at TSB, it was very much for white people. The only people I see who liked it are white people.

I want to know how this has become a Black Issue and not a People of Color Issue. I thought the problem was that all the nominees were white, not that none of them were black.

Haven’t you heard? Anti-Asian racism is the racism that’s still ok! It never goes out of style!!!

Ahhh Rami Malek. My Oscar Isaac for when Oscar Isaac isn’t around. (That’s a compliment)

The blood of virgins and $15,000 in mad money for gowns?

Chris Rock is incredibly funny. He’s also had a long history of telling jokes that are racist, misogynistic, and homophobic. And now? He’s showing a lot of cracks, in that he’s kind of dumb.

Can we talk about David O. Russell’s mouth?

Haha, who do you think tells those casting directors and agents what kind of talent they’re looking for? Producers and film directors are absolutely not beholden to the whims of casting directors.

The line about black kids getting killed by the cops on the way to the theater also sucked the air out of the room. I’m not sure it was a joke. I’m not sure Rock intended it to be.

setting up all those white people to laugh at a lynching joke.”

WOOOOO! Black people shot by the cops on the way to the movies! It’s funny because that happens, right?

Yeah, I actually liked most of Rock’s routine but cringed every time there was an applause break for racism...

Yeah, that’s what made me not so found of the monologue. Like...who was that joke about Black people being killed going to the movies for?

I want to hug Mark Ruffalo all the time. Was he in the Revenant? Cuz he is such a teddy bear.

I’m just glad white and black people could finally come together over mocking Asian people.

Anyone else find it the applause break after Rock mentioned grandma getting lynched kinda awkward? Because it sounded almost like the were clapping for lynching...

Exactly. More ingrained in regional culture than necessarily in the religion that is widespread. Decrying cultural relativism while equating the problem incorrectly with religion is just as ludicrous.
