Bingo, I love you for your smart and thought-through answer!

I was extremely pissed that Sharmeen was played off just as she was making such an important statement about how her film has affected change, especially coming on the heels of Louis’ amusing-until-condescending introduction.
I agree but I think he actually over explained it so the joke netted out to be a little more condescending and belittling than he would have liked.
I didn’t see his intro as “here is someone hitting their peak” as much as “here is someone who does this for the passion instead of for the money.”
In the comments on another article, someone is complaining that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy didn’t choose to speak about the lack of POC nominated for acting awards. Pretty fucking trivial in the face of what she did choose to highlight.
They are conditioned, like many many men in many different ways, in the east and in the west, to see women as less than fully human. They cannot accept women and gender in all its complexities. They are scared of it, so they do what they can in their power to silence us and limit us. Simple as that. It’s how systems…
On Sunday night, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for A Girl in the River: The…
LOL. I love this crazy little troll.
JACOBS!
Layyydiez, raise your hand if you've asked your doctor about being tested for ADHD and they've made a flip response assuming that you just want Adderall to lose weight.
Sigh, I'm pregnant, and so I went off my Vyvanse for the first time (on purpose, since there have been plenty of times I've run out and can't get my shit together enough to get a new prescription every damn month, since its illegal to get automatic refills) since I was 12. It has been rough. Very rough. Like, I've…
ARGH, THANK YOU! I'm utterly baffled by this fun, magic pill people take to stay up all night getting 2 months of schoolwork done or just partying crazy hard. The first week I was on it, I had trouble staying awake! Now I don't feel it at all: it's neither fun, nor unpleasant. If I forget to take it, though, it…
Yyyyyyyyep. Depression and anxiety are often comorbid with AD/HD, especially if you were diagnosed later in life or didn't have the right meds/treatment growing up.
Thanks for posting this. As someone else with ADD I found the Al Jazeera article to play into the very stereotypes about AD/HD that teachers throughout grades school threw my way. None of them really took my condition seriously and kept telling me (and my parents) I simply wasn't trying hard enough and I just had to…
Yup. When I was going to (free) therapy a couple of years ago, the therapist told me I very likely had inattentive type ADD, I had never even considered it, I thought I was just a flake.
THANK YOU! My son has ADHD, though not in a "climb the walls eating paint chips" way that most people see a person with it. He literally can't sit still and can't concentrate enough to tolerate school. It took a couple of years, and many trial and error medications (including one scary reaction to Vyvanse, I never…
I hear ya sister. It took until I was 32 to get diagnosed. I wanted to cry the first day I was on Adderall; like I was finally going to be able to survive as an adult, not a like a constantly confused teenager. Unfortunately I had problems with it rebounding that made me pass out occasionally, so I had to stop taking…
Thank you. They come off as asses. It's hard enough to close cabinet doors, throw paper towels away forget about focusing on what someone is saying. At 41 I am still having these problems and with going back to school it will magnify.
