Yeah, I was just discussing this with a friend yesterday. Marvel set the standard and had time to lay the narrative groundwork (and print money) for Avengers. It seems like by the time WB scrambled the DCEU jets, they were already too far behind to feel like they had the time for solo origin story movies.

Technically they still exist now...though most of the them are in Alaska apparently. And then there’s The Last Blockbuster, of course.

Fantastic article! I’ve been waiting for some in-depth info about what happened to come out. It’s really sad to see a game I was so excited for fall apart this way, but it’s nice to at least have a clearer picture.

I love his films, but I was disappointed by The Boy and the Beast. I loved it all the way up until the final battle, which just didn’t resonate with me the way the rest of the movie—and all his other movies—did. It felt like an extension of Wolf Children’s ending, but not in a satisfying way.
