The church isn’t trying to punish people. It’s simply saying that if they aren’t willing to live by the standards, they shouldn’t be in the church. Also, it will only happen if someone is willfully violating the standards by having a sexual relationship - same as happens to people who have repeated affairs.

People that are falsely accused of rape need to start aggressively pursuing either criminal charges or civil damages. There will not be an end to false rape culture in our lifetimes if victims continue to take pity on the perpetrators and don’t seek justice.
