It was more of an 80's thing, though the US stores were limited to large cities. They sold simple, brightly colored clothes that were super popular with 80's-90's kids like me. It’s based in Italy (?) and had a larger presence in Europe. Might still be around.

As far as I remember they sell clothes and perfumes, I have some sweaters from this brand and after years they are perfect, I have not seen a single Benetton store in USA though.

I think sometimes the array of multiculti models is wearing Benetton clothes, but not all the time so very confusing.

When were you born? Cause Bennetton wwas kinda big deal in 80ies and 90ies, at least in Europe. Started off as clothing brand, one of the first I know who made themselves a real brand, with suitcases, swimwear, underwear, sport collection. They had really powerful, thought prowoking visual marketing and even a magazin

I’m guessing you’re very young. They had their product in their ads too in their heydays, the controversial ads were just a part of their marketing, but it’s the ones people post on pintrest and tumblr

Jesus Christ this internet Don Draper over here made an ad I’d be ok watching and an entire team of people could not.

Jesus, that is perfect marketing. Younshould be an ad person because those dumb fucks at pepsi needs to fucking get fired.

I think that Coke commercial worked much better because it didn’t over-reach. All it said was, Americans come from all over the world, but they all love America...and Coke.

Ok then, you’d be shocked. I don’t personally know anyone who worked this specific shoot, but I do know quite a few people in the film/tv/commercial production industry, and overall I’ve found them to be highly socially conscious and active. Not to mention probably two-thirds of the people working this ad had no idea

Cops in ball hats and t-shirts, none the less. None of the storm-trooper looking, riot-geared out, militarized police that actually show up to most protests.

In reality, it only matters what the few at the top think and if they like it. Everyone else is doing a job, probably griping about how crazy this project is.

It failed because this kind of ad proposes unity and camaraderie between two groups. This made sense with anti-war sentiment with Hilltop. It doesn’t make sense now. Protestors don’t want camaraderie with police, to make up and leave each other be. They want justice.

Now playing

I think a better comparison than “Hilltop” from Coke, which was made in a very different, less skeptical time, is Coke’s more recent “America the Beautiful”, with the song being sung in several languages. Why was that ad effective and Pepsi’s not? Part of it has to be that massive corporations are more believable as

It certainly appears that North Korea has become the Enemy of the Moment for the Trumpalos. A few months I’d have bet anything it would have been Iran, but the Trump admin is so desperate for a distraction (and a war) that it increasingly appears they’ll settle for North Korea.

I strongly disagree with your first sentence, insofar as I believe the most effective way to get these fuckers out of power is for Democrats and liberals to get back to explaining their damn positions and why they’re better for Americans than what Republicans want to do.

Yep. The time for explaining our positions and worrying about public opinion is over. We need to keep our heads down and our eyes on the prize - getting these fuckers out of power as soon as we can. After all, that’s how the Republicans have always treated things this way. They didn’t care whether we were convinced of

I’d be very surprised if we do anything major over there at all. These guys are slowly finding out why problems like North Korea, Syria, Russia, China, Palestine are as intractable as they are. It’s easy to bluster when the other party has the presidency. Now they’ll figure out they have nothing better to offer.

This is a great synopsis, and an OBVIOUS one. I am continually amazed that people haven’t and still can’t see this fuckin’ guy for what he is and has always been. We’ve known this motherfucker for like 35 or 40 fuckin’ years. He has ALWAYS been epitome of the gaudy, arrogant, entitled, spoiled asshole who would say

Still may have top security clearance, but off the Council. Baby steps.
