I'm personally fine with extending the skin mask trick to being a total body illusion. The book doesn't describe it this way necessarily, but is vague enough to include this definition I think. I view both interpretations of the illusion as being equally magical.

I can't think of any show that has honestly cared about those kinds of details, particularly the shaving stuff. What used to always pop out out to me was Sawyer's perfectly shaven chest in Lost. This is just something we've all come to accept.
