I am not a right winger, I am a liberal. Progressives hate liberals. Here’s a trip down memory lane: Elon Musk made a comment about how “you-know-who” owns the media and was immediately crucified for it and had to grovel an apology. So we know it’s an antisemitic trope in other circumstances, with people you support.

If I were Neve Campbell, I’d be finding out how much money I could squeeze them for first. I might still tell them to fuck off in the end, but I’d want a dollar amount on how desperate they are.

“First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism”

Honestly I’m pretty disappointed that this site, which usually has no qualms about speaking out against oppression or prejudice, has been so hesitant to call the genocide in Palestine what it is. Even calling her firing “over accusations of ‘hate speech’” instead of saying what actually happened (she spoke out against

Yeah, it is definitely dubious. I don’t really care about Barrera one way or the other, or even the quote. But the way the reporting on this is going honestly feels pretty bizarre to me.

I’m with you on this one. That line definitely came off as a “read between the lines” kind of antisemitism. She’s definitely raising the specter of a classic trope. “Gee, isn’t it funny that western media isn’t criticizing Israel. I wonder why?” It’s pretty obvious, and so year, I’m glad Barrera got shitcanned.

A dogwhistle implying that Jews control the media is not antisemitic? Wow, who knew.

I’ll definitely grant you that Sarandon’s comments were way wilder, and I will definitely join you in saying fuck you to the tankies. And I would tentatively grant that if you perceive a pro-Israel bias in the media, it’s gonna be very very difficult to voice that in a non-dicey way.

Interesting. The progressive left can and will label anything they want as hate speech and quite literally equate said speech with violence, but a starlet says the Jews run the media—which the AVClub failed to report upon—and we’re supposed to give her credit for boilerplate mea culpa bullshit. Interesting.

I really didn’t read it anti-semitic. I am surprised at this kerfuffle as her comments seem pretty mild and measured. Susan Sarandon on the other hand, definitely anti-semitic. Tankies like her are always like that.

Pretty fucking wild how the AV Club - which has seemingly never encountered an attempt to cancel someone it couldn’t get on board with - is omitting the ACTUAL antisemitic part of Barrera’s posts: “Western media only shows the [Israeli] side. Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”

Supporting Hamas is literally insane. Even other terrorist organizations that posed as freedom fighters (the IRA) never did anything as egregious as raping and killing people at film festivals, or decapitating babies on farms.

The best part of Miracle Workers is watching a bunch of fun actors having a hell of a time with each other.

fuck are you talking about

Yeah, it kinda ran its course. I did think End Times was the best one they’ve done since the first season though. It just sucks that Zaslav has basically gutted TBS and TNT. Outside of American Dad, all they show now are sports and reruns.

The first season was the best and slowly got worse as it went on. Never bad, but never as good as it was.

Show was great, it will be missed

His cover of ‘Tainted Love’ should’ve been on this list instead of ‘Sweet Dreams’, and Soft Cell’s ‘Tainted Love’ should’ve been on the best covers list.

Eh, I definitely think ‘We Built This City’ is worse, it’s like a Platonic bad video.  ‘Dancing in the Streets’ is just something Mick and Dave threw together in like 2 days while they were high as hell, Starship actually tried with their video.

And yet it’s still not as bad of a video as ‘We Built This City’.
