Jesus, leave it to Nintendo fans to see the company make an all-time classic, absolutely enthralling game that made a concerted effort to grow beyond the constraints of the formula, and wish they’d just go back to the old formula.

This aged extraordinarily poorly.
It’s fascinating and encouraging to see these more “niche” (at least to certain parts of the world) sports start to take off outside the western world. I worked for GoPro in China for a summer, and it was very interesting to see a company so entrenched in niche action sports try to market itself to a country full of…
The ending of Mass Effect 3. So many choices, so much unparalleled video game world building and storytelling, only to reduce your 100+ hours over three games to three different colors of the same beam and a few different still images. That such an amazing series went out with such a whimper, and then followed it up…
This is a point that doesn’t get brought up nearly enough, I knew this was true but until I read your comment it didn’t fully dawn on me how amazing that is. Brewer and Noah are both capital “w” Washed, barely clinging to roster spots on bad teams after getting jettisoned multiple times each. Al has arguably played…
Do you not see it...? Yes I get that “large helicopter does not equal small seed”, but come on dude.
Everything Gettleman says brings me back to any Desus & Mero clip imitating Mike Francesca talking about a guy who, “plays the right way, scrappy, blue collar kid”.
You know helicopters also mimic an adaptation in nature right? It’s primarily those little seeds that spin as they descend, I think from maples and some others. It’s called biomimicry and it’s a foundational principle in how a lot of our world is designed, even it if isn’t obvious.
I’m extraordinarily impressed with your ability to write about these dreams, and in such detail. Baring parts of your subconscious, ugly parts and all, has to be terrifying, as does reliving some of the less pleasant dream-memories.
“mostly never actually” is an awkward phrase to read
“Sends the wrong message to children”. Having nipples is bad...?
Would love for this to be true but Kraft owns property in or near the town. Not impossible but he’s got reason to be around there independent of this sordid connection.
Transplant Baltimorean here to jump on the regional pride train, I’ve had all the aforementioned fast food chicken options (and more importantly am not from the home territory of any) and I can say Royal Farms chicken is amazing.
Nintendo about to drop a Doug skin for Bowser in Smash, I can feel it.
You say this jokingly, but in every single goddamn game he calls, Mark Jackson says in all seriousness, “This is a make or miss league”. Insightful takes abound.
