So people can’t claim Taiwan as there own with just words but the Taiwanese can? Your own logic defeats your argument. It is a country to some but not to others and seeing as how the main audience of this article lies in the “others” category the writer is not wrong in his statement.

China is roughly as communist as Russia is today. It hasn’t even pretended to be communist (in more than name) since the Deng Xiaoping economic reforms of the 1980s which gave rise to the manufacturing machine that has built modern china into a world-class economic powerhouse.

It’s not about cowardice. It’s about the reality of the situation worldwide. One internet commentator saying “they are all cowards” will do literally nothing to change the actual political situation. Getting angry at ME for it, does even less.
