Yep - I think 1975 qualifies as a bit older!

GMC used to do a lot in the heavy truck & bus markets. They had their own vehicles in addition to rebranded Chevy trucks. Lest we forget the fiberglass ‘70s GMC Motorhome!

Look up the definition of the Japanese concept called “wabi-sabi.” It’s appreciating signs of use, imperfection, aging, weathering, and human touch. That’s what is going on with the Derelict Mercury and the rest of the patina’d Derelict cars.

I went to college with this guy (unfortunately) and the more I read about his recent escapades, the more I’m not surprised in the least. He didn’t seem particularly evil back then but there was a sociopathic sliminess about him that was hard to pin down. None us in the engineering groups I was in could put up with his

Y U RUNE KLASSIK‽

This concept car was the inspiration for the 240, or rather what they originally wanted the 240 to be. I think budgetary reasons forced them to base the 240 on the old 140 instead of starting from scratch like the concept. The 240 did take a bunch of design cues from this concept, like the grille, bumpers, marker

With this new RWD/longitudinal platform, Ford should think about making something lower to the ground, for better fuel economy and handling. It could have 4 doors, room for 5 people, and a protruding rear-access cargo area, for a sleek look. An optional crossover version with a long continuous roof and a hatch would

So, Explorer is going back to a longitudinal drivetrain layout?

I’ve had the good fortune to test drive a development CX-5 diesel, and it was a refined, quiet, torquey, fun little thing. My point of comparison is the 2010 TDI Jetta Sportwagen; the CX-5 felt much stiffer body-wise and had significantly lower NVH. And felt faster too. Mazda has been trying hard to meet emissions

Good on RR designers for resisting the urge for a dramatic rake in the body. Despite its SUVness this thing is refreshing with its classic shoebox design - horizontal lines that don’t sweep high up the flanks into the tail. All of the wedgey/pointy SUVs and crossovers with their huge D-pillars and tiny rear windows

Toyota under the Gazoo Racing name is also still involved in the World Rally Championship, with an angry little ~400hp car based on the Yaris...may have been pertinent to mention in the article as well.

All of the things you say are true, but the car has its downsides too. The steering is uncharacteristically vague for a ‘90s BMW - if you’ve ever driven an E30 or E36, then the E34 M5 is probably going to disappoint in that department. It’s fussy and fragile and pretty small on the inside. I mean it feels more cramped

“I’m an absolute sucker for big, round, yellow fog lights” - so thaaat’s what the bra was for. Zing!

This trouser stain of a human being worked on extra-curricular vehicle projects at UC Berkeley at the same time I did. He had a “brilliant” plan for an autonomous motorcycle. The rest of us engineers rolled our eyes and called it “the motorcycle that falls over all by itself.” I remember him shouting some “you all

There will be at least 9 LMP1 cars including the 2 Toyotas. The other 7 are all privateers (non-hybrid) split between several different teams. Rebellion confirmed they are back up to LMP1, as well as DragonSpeed, SMP, TRS/Manor, and good ol’ ByKolles running the Nissan engine that was plucked from their ill-fated FWD

I was thinking the same thing. Let’s see...wrecked in 1991 in the PNW, found at the base of a cliff with deer bones nearby. Was this Evil Cooper’s escape vehicle after he rammed his head into that mirror and presumably left the Great Northern, did some raping at the local hospital, and vanished from town?

I think your salesman was also BSing the frequency of Land Cruiser sales. If you could assume 1 per week is the average, and this represents the average Toyota dealer in the US, multiply 52 by the number of US Toyota dealerships, 1233. You’d get 64,116 LCs sold per year in the US.

That’s not a draining dam, it’s a draining reservoir. Dams aren’t full of water and therefore cannot drain.

There are quite a few 5-cyl swapped 240s running around. It fits just fine but not without some oil pan fabrication and custom mounts. Check the Turbobricks forums project section. This one is perhaps the most well developed: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=219119

This guy needs to go to the back of the class and stop showing off. We get it, you’re cheeky, you are trying to prove a point. The rest of us who are waiting for our buyback claims to be approved don’t appreciate it, however. Also, you’ve effectively guaranteed your car will be scrapped if/when VW ever does buy it
