So a couple years before 4-Loco there was a product called “Sparks” that was similar (an alcoholic energy drink), though I don’t think it had as much alcohol (I expect it was around 6-7%). At the time I was going back to college and I had to take a required Poli Sci class that was kind of dull and not very hard, but

That movie always confused me because I kept expecting SMG to start kicking all the evil thing’s asses, only to go “oh right, she’s not Buffy”.

To be fair, it would kind of be weirder if he showed up in a suit and tie...

I am certainly no fan of Regan, but he ran the Screen Actor’s Guild, was governor of California, and had been active in Republican politics for years when he was elected. Schwarzenegger is a somewhat better comp, but against all odds he turned out to be a reasonable centrist governor who made real progress on at least

David Cronenberg directs Madden ‘18.

Evidence? Australia (to name one) has compulsory voting and I don’t know that there’s even a whiff of being forced to vote for a specific candidate...

I’m not sure how organic webshooters are any more contrived than manufactured ones (or the organic ability to stick to walls and lift a volkswagon). I mean, not canonical with the comics, sure, but it did let them get on with the origin story part a lot faster.

This man is clearly a payed Crisis actor. #PhartusIsPhake

I actually prefer new #1s happening frequently because as an occasional comic reader they give me some idea of where I can plausibly dive in for a while. I do, however, wish there was some other easy way of distinguishing them (I guess the year, but that’s not always consistently available).

“They sold out the office of the President of the United States (and effectively the country as a whole) to a complete buffoon because he was their last shot at it.”

Yeah, I think this is basically right. Not to say Trump might not have dropped an occasional n-word here or there, but I’d be surprised if that word itself is a frequent part of his lexicon. I’d expect more dog-whistly things that can be rationalized away like “those people have more emotional temperaments” and “if

Different Hundley than the one who caught for the Mets back in the 90s.

Certainly possible. I don’t have a problem with them killing characters per se, it’s just nice if they can make the sacrifices mean something in the story (even if they are for such practical reasons as “this actor isn’t going to do another one of these films).

At least they gave Merlin a part and gave him an ostensibly meaningful death (though the particulars were...odd). Roxy’s death was pretty much akin to Austin Powers getting rid of Elizabeth Hurley by randomly making her a killer robot (“sadly we knew the whole time”). In Austin Powers it made sense because a) it was

Ha. I played that a bit as a teen. Reading about all the equipment was probably the most fun part of it. See also: Car Wars.

I think Elba could probably be fine for 1 or 2 Bond movies, but if they want to get 4-5 out of the next Bond he’s probably going to be in his 60s by the last couple. Who knows if he’ll end up being fucking immortal like Cruise seems to be, but they could also lean into it and tell stories about an aging Bond (maybe

In his defense (ugh why am I defending this idiot), I *think* what he meant is “people come to a comedy show to laugh, not to feel bad about racism”. This is, needless to say, a very limiting view of what comedy can address, but there are certainly successful comedians who don’t address social justice issues.

Those are some nice straw men you’ve created there. Thanks for asking people to defend a position they did not in fact state.

Sure, and if we had a long history of sexual assault crimes being taken seriously and prosecuted by the authorities, you might have a point, but we, umm, don’t.

“Men are not defending Chris; men are defending their own emotionally abusive behavior and normalizing it.”
