Yeah, whatever one things of Keanu as an actor, it’s hard to deny that he works his ass off.

Yeah, this is not news, on balance.

That is...really strange. I’m assuming you are a woman? I mean, it seems like it would be even stranger if they changed tack to hitting on men.

Oh yeah, I was hoping there would be some kind of resolution between Max and Mike where he in some way accepts her into the group, even if it is begrudging.

Yeah, I’m sure (and maybe some other “numbers” as well) – just seemed like it would have been nice for that episode to tie back into the season narratively (well other than the flashback when she needed to close the gate).

+1 I really liked that episode. I really wish it had paid off in the finale by her sister (and maybe her crew) showing up to help save the town/world (and maybe make Max’s asshole brother think he’s covered in spiders or something).

Counterpoint: Rey is, more or less, a Leia analogue, and if there’s a bunch of “how dare men have written this character” I haven’t seen it.

I don’t really think the Bechdel test should be a “bar” for an individual story at all – it’s mostly useful as a way of evaluating the state of the industry, story wise. I mean, Glengarry Glen Ross is a great play/movie, it’s complete absence of female characters notwithstanding.

Oh yeah, the Amazons coming back and reinforcing the point about evil comes from humanity and they all need to work together to change and heal would have been *so* much better than that stupid CGI fight that kind of undermines the ostensible point of that revelation (“There are no gods to slay, there’s just us. Oh

“Wanting to dig into how women and female relationships are portrayed in genre TV and film” is not the same thing as “being offended”. If that conversation doesn’t interest you, why are you here? Oh right, to make fun of people who care about things you don’t care about. I’m going to go find your favorite jelly bean

Corn on pizza is not uncommon if you’re at a place that calls their pizza “flatbread” or a California Pizza Kitchen. If you’re doing like a mexican themed pizza, it’s fine - it’s a pretty subtle flavor. It is of course way out of place on a more traditional pizza like pepperoni.

Correct me if I’m wrong (I have only read bits and parts of inhuman stuff), but Lockjaw doesn’t talk or have thought bubbles, correct? It’s going to be interesting to see how they make him the center of the story with no narrative voice.

I mean, good lord, you can see her ankles! #scandal

Well that’s the thing: I’m not sure it’s over the top *enough*. Like it looks like about 75% of an outfit that needs something else (where’s her 13 pieces of flair? :P ).

Skeuomorphic of what? To be skeuomorphic it needs to suggest a physical object – I don’t see how a color scheme does that.

I think OP means from a practical level it is bullshit that celebrities (particularly young female celebrities) have to deal with. That doesn’t make it ok, but it (or the threat of it) is something they need to deal with.

Umm, no it is not. “Functioning alcoholic” is someone who is still actively drinking, but is still able to, well, function. “Recovering alcoholic” is someone who has stopped drinking (but you never stop being an alcoholic.
Googling will quickly reveal these are pretty widespread accepted terms, e.g. first result: https:

That’s interesting. I’m actually somewhat into sports (though not as much as I used to be), and among quite a few of my associates the idea that I’d care about sports is met with sneering contempt.

Well, yes, but depending what you think of his reason, that could still get him labeled a scumbag. I mean, imagine that someone turned down an award because the NFL has black people. Pretty sure “scumbag” would be on the nice side of what people would call them. Not that they are the same thing, just to make the point

When you say “free speech” (which many people have) you are inherently invoking the 1st amendment, even if you don’t mention it. If I said I had a right to own again, would you agree that I am invoking the second amendment, even though I didn’t say “the second amendment”?
