Thanks for that, man. I just finished it. I’m not sure I’m going to try to publish it. I may just give it away. After “Why I Fixed Fights” was published, I was bombarded with offers from agents, publishers, and TV and movie people. It was an unbelievable waste of time (and not fun).

Yeah, I know the feeling. I have it a lot too.

I think I’ve learned my lesson. But the funny thing is that my friend G Love, who I did manage when he was starting out, is pretty good friends with Jack Johnson.

Well, I did just finish a book about boxing. But I kind of have to pick and choose what I write about crime. But you might like the boxing book. I’m still not sure what I want to do with it.

Thank you for your very thoughtful comments. They’re really generous.

Peter was and remains one of a kind. Talk about someone who waded into the lion’s den. I miss spending time with him. I’ve got some great videos of him from North Carolina and with his dad when he was Tom was reuniting with Floyd Patterson when I brought Floyd to Whitman to work one of my fighter’s corner. Peter would

I can’t thank you enough for this. I hope you feel I did right by everyone, at least in terms of what I’ve written, if not by my actual behavior.

It means a great deal to me that you do. I really try to writing seriously about the sport.

It’s very kind of you to let me know. Thank you for taking the time.

Erick, I’m very grateful for your encouraging comment. Thanks. And I know what you’re saying about the odd ending, but I think it was legit. Ortiz really did seem to deflate for real sometime in the 9th.

Much thanks for this, Septimius. The articles have brought some degree of heat, but that’s fine (for the most part). On the whole, readers have supported them. I’m glad you found something of worth in them.

Raymond, I’m so glad you liked the pieces. Thanks for saying so. I did notice that Paulie nailed the strange stoppage. I think it would have been tough to give Wilder two of the first four rounds.

I thought the cards were ridiculous, and I was unhappy (as was the crowd, by the way) at David Fields’s decision to hold up the fight (and I’m not talking just about what happened in the corner; there was a holdup at the start of the 8th too).

I very much appreciate your comments, Jered. Thank you. In most cases, I’ve found that people who comment have put real thought into what they’re writing. I feel I owe them the courtesy of replying.

And I thought Nihilists didn’t like anything. I’m deeply flattered. Thanks so much for letting me know.

Thanks for letting me know you like the pieces. It makes me very happy to hear that.

It’s the truth, Ernest.

I’m really glad you were looking for the followup, and I’m pleased I was able to give you one that was acceptable. Thanks for telling me.

That’s fantastic, man. Thanks over and over for it.

No argument with any of this, man. Who knows?
