No, he was a child. My son is two weeks short of his 17 birthday - five weeks younger than Trayvon was when he was shot. He’s 6'1", but he’s most definitely a child. Also, needless to say, anyone under 18 is legally a child. So yes, definitely a child who was stalked by an aggressor and ultimately shot by him.
That is actually a really interesting point. Trayvon was the one attacked. Therefore surely he was standing his ground? Zimmerman was the aggressor. He was advancing on Trayvon, not standing his ground. He’s a murderer.
The difficulty with your reading of the facts is that Zimmerman was the aggressor. It’s not relevant that he found himself losing the fight, because he started it.
