+1 for exoplanet reference!

Seems proportionate, given how severely he’s been punished for the times he’s actually endangered the lives of others...

OT, but I just realized that Jr’s girlfriend is older than his new mom.

I think that’s right. It’s less about the inconsistencies between how men and women are treated in these instances, and more about the left/right divide. We hold our politicians to a much higher standard than do they.

The most mind-numbing aspect of this to me is that the administration apparently released the letter deliberately, assuming it would paint Trump in a good light. Good grief.  And, of course, it was sent before Turkey attacked, so had zero impact.

“This Woman’s Work” I will forever associate with a friend of mine whose wife died at 36 from breast cancer, leaving two sons, a 1 yo and a 3 yo.  That was nearly 30 years ago, and I still can’t listen to it without tears.

Whatever. Keep projecting your own meanings onto my words. I was adding some data, which I fully acknowledged was personal and parochial. You were just adding piss and vinegar.

To your main point that:

Glad I didn’t offend you - I can’t imagine how rude you’d be if you were actually offended. Given your responses, it’s funny that we Brits are supposed to be the supercilious and sarcastic ones.

That was a strange comment. That wasn’t what I said, at all, of course. I noted that, afaik, hazing is much less common in British universities (non-existent, in my experience), and fraternities don’t exist there. This was in the context of you suggesting that hazing would happen with or without fraternities. You test

Actually, I think they really do need fraternities. I went to university in the UK, and I wasn’t aware of any hazing. I could imagine the rugby club doing something like that - boorish behavior while drinking was kind of their thing - but I was in the football club and never saw or heard of anything remotely like that.

Also Cruz in 2016: “So, can I count on your vote for Mr. Trump in the election?”

Perfect.

Totally. And she continues to prove that every day by not speaking up about what she saw.  Apparently, the humiliation he put her through must have been worth it in some way.

The hilly photo at the end makes your point perfectly - even more than the preceding desert shots! But yes, the ignorance of that man is extraordinary.

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. But, as I mention below, I’m recently American, and formerly British, and “vice” works for gripping and prostitution in the UK. So let’s kick that one to the kerb before we start.  I’ve given up so many uses of the letter “u”, but there are some things I will always hold on

SMH.  These fucking people, honestly.

Same!

Haha.  As a British import, I’m still allowed to say “vice”, I think.

Totally agree. Reminds me of the idea that people would vote for Bush the Lesser because they “could have a beer with him” - I don’t want a president I’m comfortable having a beer with.  I want a president so intelligent, with such a grasp of the issues, that I’m terrified I’ll say something stupid in their presence

Well played!
