Corsets Work. More at 11.

'Starving' seems like a bit of a leap. She ate soup for her lunch whilst filming, soup is acceptable food inbetween a solid breakfast and dinner

When I saw her photo, I didn't think she looked odd at all.

When I wear a corset, my waist strikes only about 3-4 inches, but it really does make a HUGE difference in appearance. Certain historic looks just don't look right unless you have a corset underneath...

Right? She had soup. For one meal. While filming. Not understanding what the big deal is.

I find that entirely reasonable. She wasn't on a liquid diet, she just had a liquid lunch on the days she was shooting. Does no one here ever eat soup for lunch?

I've been doing a lot of historic costuming lately (Victorian, Regency) and the idea that she only felt comfortable eating soup while wearing her corset actually... makes total sense to me. The idea that she was wearing "too tight" of a corset or they should have laced her more loosely just-kinda doesn't make sense,…

If you don't normally wear a corset, it takes awhile to get used to eating in one even if it's not tight laced. For aesthetic and message reasons I would have preferred they put her in a corset that only reduced a couple inches, but that would have been uncomfortable for her, too.

OK - I might be in marketing now, but my 10 years of newspaper journalism make me want to punch that headline for being a straight-up lie. She didn't do it to FIT into the corset, according to the story. Sounds to me like she was able to fit in it with no problem - she just couldn't eat while wearing it.

Seems about right. At the renaissance faire, I pretty much just drink wine all day and don't eat anything.

Ok real question here. He is threatening people with bodily harm. Multiple times. How much trouble would someone like, oh I don't know, a random fellow similar to myself, with a good deal of training and quite a bit of body mass were to bust the holy living $hit out of someone like this?
