My parents voted for Trump. I have cerebral palsy and the image of Trump mocking the disabled reporter is forever burned into my brain. I feel so...meaningless to my parents. They don’t care if someone makes fun of me or if I have healthcare. I’ve never felt so worthless in my life.

It’s incredibly easy to have free healthcare when the population of your entire country is literally less than the population of my home state of California. Not that I don’t want a single-payer system (I absolutely do), but c’mon man, we have 318 million people to your 35 million.

Of course there is some mental health issue at play here. I think what people are taking issue with is the tone she takes in the piece, the complete inability to admit the pain she put her mother through, and the fact that she and those who published her are celebrating her selfish/irrational decisions as courageous…

You just don’t do that to your family and/or friends. You don’t just disappear like you’ve been abducted with not a word to anyone in your life.
