Yes, I believe Gilliam’s entire rationale was to tell a story from a child’s point-of-view. In fact, the camera is rarely more than four feet off the ground.

I always assumed having the Time Bandits be little people provided the advantage of Kevin being on their level and not physically overshadowed by his fellow adventurers, similar to Elliot and E.T. the following year.

The fact that the cast is not little people does not bug me to much as I think Gilliam only did it to emphasize the surreal dream like atmosphere of his movie. “Little people = surreal” can be seen as a problematic Hollywood trope anyways.

The thing is, Rowling was perfectly likable before she randomly decided to make “trans people want to rape me in the bathroom” her entire personality.
