This—the Doctor himself is part of the translation thing, so being near him or the TARDIS works. I think.
It was a planet, not a sun,so it wasn't really giving anything back to its followers.
The woman at the shop MUST be Sally Sparrow. Who else works in a shop that might conceivably sell computers and knows the Doctor? Granted, I have no idea how she'd know the TARDIS phone number or why she'd give it to Oswin, but still.
While I also don't like how this episode sort of awkwardly skips to the end of the Shawn and Juliet plot, I thought that in sheer comedy that this episode was the funniest in a long time. The Geico rhetorical-question-asking-guy was marvelous.
