Part the appeal of streamers - it would seem to me as an observer, I’m not big on following or watching them in particular - is that the origins of streaming involved a certain level of accessibility to said streamers. They’re “like you”, they play games, and to whatever degree, they interact with viewers during their…
“I also was very upset and confused when I saw the website and there were no links to the studies or credits to the labs or the people that worked behind the scenes to make RFLCT happen.”
“Honestly, I think it’s very commendable and admirable that Rae is trying to branch out of gaming. I just think that the blue light stuff is a little bit iffy.”
Also every laugh I had watching it was a big, savory, quality laugh. There were quite a few of those. And then the serious parts were so passionate and resonant that they just kept the energy going.
So many people run to defend Chappelle. He’s a rich dude that doesn’t give a shit about you and would absolutely never run to your defense.
Surprising. The comedy special the article mentions, Nanette, made quite a stir. It was heavily praised but also got a lot of backlash from people who objected to the fact that it’s more of a personal essay than a series of jokes. Which is stupid in my opinion. If something is good, then it’s good. Who cares about the…
“While some employees disagree, we have a strong belief that content on screen doesn’t directly translate to real-world harm.”
“People in cults do often have a manic energy about them”—SNL evoked this so, so well with their Scientology promo video. I’ve never had much luck embedding links so I won’t try, but it is really worth a watch, it’s so funny and spot-on.
Really liked the Farsi(?) version of You’re Dead on the opening credits. I checked the closing credits, but I didn’t see any info on who recorded that.
I could watch the Nandor dancing aerobics scene on an endless loop and never get tired of it.
Surprised at the lack of mention of the show I first remember her from, “A Different World” (the Cosby Show spinoff about Lisa Bonet’s character going off to college which only actually featured Lisa Bonet for part of the first season). Sure, her character was often limited to “biracial hippie girl,” but that’s where…
We knew this must be a Very Special Episode with the unprecedented alternative version of its theme song, “You’re Dead”, right at the start.
Cree Summer was amazing. I don’t know the process for choosing guest-stars on this show but I don’t think they’ve ever went wrong in their decision. You always want to see more of these one-off characters. I really hope she comes back with a new scam in a future season.
Watching King of the Hill again, and I’m struck by how talented Murphy was as a voice-over actress, to say nothing of how great she was in her live movies. Not gonna comment on the documentary, just to praise Murphy one more time.
Its rare to see a book where the writing and art so perfectly fit and elevate each other! Typically it's just "This looks good" or on the other end "This art is so bad I literally can't read this" (which happens more with marvel). But this art both looks great and just so perfectly matches the tone!
This comic is sooo good. Lot of love put into the art and the story
