Overnight parts from Wolfsburg if we have to.

Again, for the four thousandth time: The Toyota Sienna should have been all electric YEARS ago. Take all the money, sell a billion of them, save the world. Come on already, Toyota.

Price doesn’t matter.   It’s ALWAYS a pass.

My general thought process goes like…

The 2005 Astro Van. See so many trades guys running around with these. A EV version would be perfect

VW Beetle. Seems like a no-brainer.

Can we change this to the more needed “Which freeway do you wish was a high-speed rail line?” Because we don’t need to replace every car 1:1 with an electric, we need to make it so we don’t have to use cars for everything.

I think this is what Ford is probably working towards with their new push for a “cheap EV”. Although knowing Ford, it will probably end up being and EV EcoSport.

We need a new Beetle EV. If they can build a new retro Microbus then they can bring back the Beetle as an entry level EV to compete with the Fiat 500e and Mini EV. Build a new Karmann Ghia as well. All they need to do is use a truncated Id platform. Honor the VW heritage that kept them profitable for decades.

Just one man’s opinion, but every car with an automatic transmission would be better as an EV.

All busses should be electric.  There is plenty of space for a really big battery.  And wouldn’t it be great to eliminate the noise and diesel exhaust fumes?

Honestly, I wish small vans like the Promaster City & Transit were electric were in the US market. For most of the businesses that bought them, would a gas drivetrain really be an advantage in all city driving? I mean, the PMC came with a 9 speed for pete’s sake, and even then, it still got not-great fuel economy.

Garbage trucks, Mail trucks, pretty much any big utility vehicle that doesn’t require long distances

Camry, Accord, Corolla, Golf/Jetta, Civic, Mirage, Sentra, and all CUVs and mini SUVs that nobody ultimately give any crap about. Allow me to explain, by using a Camry as an example. A Camry is just a Camry, nobody seriously invested into automobiles give a toss. It’s just a car, a very good car that is more than:

Absolutely a lovely engine. When, and if, it runs.

I’m with you 100%—it’s too complicated of a car for its own good.

Wait. W8. Nope. ND.

Not a chance. After reading 2 decades of horror stories about this and the W12 in the Phaeton along with watching my mother’s Cabriolet disassemble itself slowly into component pieces there is no possibility that would ever buy a VW of this vintage.

We had a 1.8T of this same year. Around 2012, the interior was a beginning to disintegrate and the oil cooler went bad and held my wife hostage on the side of the highway. With all the weird issues we had with our 1.8T, I cannot imagine what its like maintaining that obscure W8 with double the age on it.

Nope. Not even for free.
