Sorry, do you single-handedly run Kotaku, then? Or did you post this article outside of the 12 hours you spend running some other website?

Quantic Lab upper management allegedly instituted a “bug quota” policy that required each individual tester to submit no less than 10 bugs per day.

I have zero sympathy for the giant multimillion dollar corporation, and I only hope that they can use this as leverage to make Youtube reform their absurdly abusable copyright strike system.

I think part of the difference between NMS and Anthem is that NMS does something unique, but Anthem was almost painfully generic. Flying power-suits aren’t enough to elevate what was ultimately a bog-standard looter-shooter into something which people could see promise in.

I am fucking sick to death of the excuse that “crunch is inevitable” being used to justify months of ten hour days and six day weeks.

I don’t have a great answer to that either. It’s indisputable that that would be a different set of circumstances, and I’d agree that the moral weight of that crime would be greater than what we have here. But as you say, how one might address that in law is an open question.

You keep repeating that like you think we do not understand this. We do. The problem is that putting someone in jail is a wildly disproportionate punishment for selling ROMs.

“many of the things that make it special”, buddy, if you think that 1) being a platform exclusive and 2) doing neat stuff with the controller are many things that were special about it IDK what to tell you.

Hm. I can see what you mean about the bullet-hell aspect of it, but I found that the satisfaction of that was undercut for me by the fact that I think... Four out of six? of the bosses don’t move. So the “maintaining aim” bit of the gameplay was kind of lacking.

I’m genuinely interested as to why you say that. What about it stands out for you? And what other shooters are you comparing it to, if I may ask? Like I said, I thought it was a perfectly good game, but it really didn’t stand out for me, and I’d love to know what it was that made it so special for you.

I have to disagree. Returnal is a perfectly decent game, but it’s solidly B-tier as far as I’m concerned. IMO if it had come out on PC and wasn’t a platform exclusive, and didn’t do such a good job showcasing the DualSense, it would have disappeared into the general crowd of good-but-not-great shooters with ~85% on

No, it’s being a poor human. Some of the greatest strengths of the human species are adaptability and growth, and the ability to adjust to changes in circumstances.

Okay, speaking as someone who has no fucking idea what “mooninites” are, looking at that thing in the picture, explain why it would be racist of me to think that was a bomb? Fucking stupid yes, because it’s very clearly just a weird figure made of little lights or something, but why would it be racist?

You know what, never mind.

You know, if outlets like Kotaku stopped reporting on this shit, he would fade into the irrelevance he deserves. I had successfully forgotten he existed until I saw this. :/

Wait, you put salt and baking soda in pancakes?! Is this some kind of American thing? We just use milk, eggs and flour, and a bit of oil to coat the frying pan...

Vitally relevant information that; good we know that he’s not living at the house of a different relative or, God forbid, homeless!

I am kinda baffled that this has turned into a Big Debate, because honestly the UI in Elden Ring is just.

I haven’t played it, so I’m open to the idea that it’s better looking when you’re distracted by playing it, but it looks genuinely ugly in screenshots. I say this as someone who still cheerfully plays games from twenty-plus years ago; graphics are not something I am terribly fussed about, but a lot of the images of

It’s a cliche, but a cliche for a reason that the hard right assume everything is a battle in a culture war, because to them it is. The idea that respecting others is just basic human decency doesn’t register, because they see it as a zero sum game, if I am not able to put you down, then you must be pushing me
