I’m all for reigning in the DFS industry, but this article does not make a very good point. The Daily Fantasy Industry was not on the minds of the NFL when they lobbied for the exception. “Daily fantasy” as we know it today did not exist in 2006.

It’s for objectivity. You don’t want a die-hard Colts fan to be the only examining physician of your franchise quarterback’s injury.

This story makes me wonder — if college athletes were paid money in excess of their scholarships, the outrage from coaches, administrators, and alumni at this kid and other college athletes who get injured/arrested/whatever doing something stupid would reach crazy new heights. I can easily imagine stories like this
