Huge respect to Roddenberry for kicking off Star Trek. But TNG didn’t get really good until they kicked Roddenberry to the curb, so I don’t see his “vision” as necessarily being all that great. And, by all accounts, he didn’t like Wrath of Khan, so his tastes are questionable.

It’s a Wonderful Life is a fantastic film in every way. That it didn’t find its audience until later doesn't change that. It's Capra's masterpiece and essentially flawless.

No, the prequels haven’t been “normalized” or redeemed. Showing them on regular cable a lot doesn’t make them better. Excusing them as “children’s films” or pointing out that Rise of Skywalker is worse doesn’t make them better or justify their low quality.

One of my favorite films. I don’t think I can recall a sadder scene than the one in the cab of the moon rover on the sat phone call to earth. The title of the music playing at that moment is “Memories (Someone We’ll Never Know)” and it’s still devastating to think about to this day. That movie stuck with me for days…
