What a shame. This was the first book - Stephen King or otherwise - that I literally could not put down during the last few chapters (I was in 8th grade I think), but my high hopes were dashed with the 1984 version. Like a lot of King adaptations, it sure sounds like it should be a no-brainer to make the source

As much as I liked the finale, I would have been happier if it ended 2 years earlier.

Spinal Tapped Out

The guy is awesome, but I honestly can’t imagine him playing Gandalf (and the idea that Sean would be in it too would just be too bizarre). I’d still love to see the audition tape, though.

“...he invested in Twitter because he believed “in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe” but after investing in the company, he realized it “will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form.”

And yet another pop culture reference will fade into history.

You may be right, the quote I saw actually said “primary progressive aphasia, a rare type of dementia”. Ah well, I’m not a doctor - it’s tragic either way.

Damn, and we just lost Terry Jones to Aphasia not long ago.

Dinsdale?

Curious about the timeline (I suppose I could check Memory Alpha, but that would require a modicum of effort). But from memory, Spock served with Pike for 11+ years before Kirk took over, so I’m wondering what his rank will be in SNW.

Maybe he gives someone a Midichlorian transfusion.

Counterpoint: Scrubs, Season 9

What concerns me is the new series Strange New Worlds has ties to Khan too. Look, Space Seed was a solid episode and Star Trek II was arguably the best ST movie - but for the love of God, people, is it really that hard to come up with an original villain?

I’m just glad they didn’t show her sweaty paw slapping against the back window of a car.

Even as a kid I noticed that in later seasons their “shape of” requests became pretty ridiculous as they came up with more and more elaborate deus ex machina forms:

Jayna: Form of... a walrus!
Zan: Shape of... an ice nuclear-fission-particle-accelerator!

I still remember the odd glances my parents would give the TV as I watched Letterman’s morning show back in the day. I also vaguely recall a bit where comedian Rich Hall demonstrated Olympic speed skating by having a bunch of tiny skaters on an LP covered with aluminum foil, who would fly off as he gradually increased

Mankind clearly has a bright future.

Yeah Hideki is another Yankee I grudgingly admire, lol

When I used that phrase I wasn’t just talking about his stats.
