I agree - that “joke” always sticks out like a sore thumb, and is a real eye-roller. It’s not the only example though, there are plenty of “Don’t forget, we’re in the 80's!” lines clunkily sprinkled throughout.

Oh I agree that the TV movie did have it’s moments (the deserted airport scene was creepy), but overall it was a disappointment for me.

I’ve often thought/wished for the same thing, but of course it’s a virtual no-win scenario for them; I bet there would be far more people bashing it than celebrating it, no matter how well it came off in reality.
