I love me a good 20-30 year old sports sedan. Thats where you get the best driving dynamics (IMO) absence of electronic nannies, looks and sounds. Everyone is going to say the E39 so I am going to present a couple of other contenders.

This is a great questions. lets ignore the obvous E39, E38, type R, c5 z06, civic si ,etc...

    Bit of a long one:

I have a 2005 C2 coupe. Its got the 3.6 and a manual. Its got about 108,000 miles on it and has been pretty solid. Mostly routine maintnence. It is an easy car to drive in traffic and live with on a daily commute while still being engaging at a track day. The only downside I have found is that some of the interior

1991 BMW E30 M3 with the euro-spec dog leg transmission. This is 2010 and I was 24 at the time. I already had one project car, a daily driver and was between jobs so money was tight. The car had 160,000kms (Toronto, Canada) and was super straight. It needed about $1k in mechanical and a paint job if you really wanted

Super cool!I would hope they redo the rear end or the gear ratios to make it more in tune with highway crusing than the stop-and-go of city life. I’ll bet that would increase the fuel economy a fair bit too.

i picked up a 2004 V70 T5 with the t56 manual transmission as a winter beater about 3 years ago. Other than needing motor mounts (suprise, suprise) and some small things it has been rock solid. Its got the 2.3 turbocharged engine and front wheel drive. Its a blast to drive and has been super reliable. It has about

Anyone who sells used vehicles knows how hard these are on maintnence. Oil cooler lines, rear mains, air shocks.... thats just the short list. This would be a way more attractive deal if it was the GL550

I can’t imagine towing 6,000lbs + with something as short as a Defender 90. That will be sketchy on the highway. get an 80's 2 door full size blazer/bronco/ramcharger and be done with it.

You could get these Mercury trucks with a 10' bed in Canada. I don’t think the Ford came that way, a blue oval guy/gal can correct me if I am wrong.

I love this idea but I fear for his insurance quote. International drivers acquiring insurance through in a different country can be a pain. This is one of the advantages of renting one... you can just hop on the fleet.

I feel like a Passat diesel with leather and a roof would be a solid choice.

Well said Jason. I resently (and on a whim) picked up a 2003 M45, this was the odd-duck sedan they only made for 2 years in North America and was only available with the 4.5 on our shores. I’d be interested in your take on that car.

I remember when this happened. I Sell cars in Toronto. this was a huge SNAFU. From what I remember the cars were at port awaiting distribution when several MASSIVE blizzards came in. The cars were covered in several feet of snow, then a storm came in and washed over the snow. The snow turned to ice and the cars sat

My 54 hp Mini is way cooler than this lifted truck. My mini gets more looks, is more fun to drive and I can actually park it. My buddy’s truck on the other hand drives like crap, is too big to actually go off-roading and can’t be driven in the city.

They have been putting this motor in Canadian A6's for a couple of years now... they are not hot sellers on the used market. But, that makes them a bargain of a used car buy.

it looks like a 3-pedal-special too!!!

Those rims will look “hella dope” on my slammed passat wagon.

this, this is why Jalopnik is my go-to.

401 east bound at the 400... fun times.... re-take that pic at 4PM or 8AM when traffic is brutal going west bound... that actually looks light for the 401.
