I did a quick look and found that in 2014 (Pre dieselgate) VW sold about 360k vehicles in the US. One year later in Europe (during dieselgate) they sold 1.7 million vehicles in Europe. So, to say that the US is their most important market is not exactly true.

100% this. Why keep a bunch of money in your checking account so that the bank can use it to make money for them. Why not keep the minimum in your checking account and put the extra in places where it can work for you. I’m assuming that they will look at total holdings, and not just what money you have sitting in your…
