Oh cool!

Like I said elsewhere, my UK office is down the road from Worcester College which is at the foot of Worcester Street, and these two are pronounced with a different number of syllables. Both contain two “R” sounds though, which in my time in the Greater Boston area, people do not use when referring to Worcester.

Very true. I have been out of the area for fifteen years, and it is tough for me to remember exactly how it sounds - but it is always easy to tell when someone who’s never heard it trying to do it.

There are two ways they pronounce Worcester in England, neither of which is how people do in the Northeast.

haha, my college gf was from Chemsfid but she had moved there from elsewhere and so she pronounced the L, Chelmsford.

Yeah, I went to school in Rhudisland and remember when all my friends were back over Christmas break, in New Jersey ( I cannot imagine how we sounded), going over all the terrible accents from everywhere. My only friend whose accent changed went to school in Daytona, oddly enough.

I am going to star every one who has a different pronunciation of Peabody for autological reasons.

If I knew he pronounced his name like that, I never would have given him the benefit of the doubt.

I did the same and the combination of half-cold showers really limits the BO. I do keep deodorant at my desk for when I have plans immediately after work and have a stank on me, though.

Very true. There’s actually a Worcester College near my UK office pronounced similarly to the Massachusetts city and it is at the end of Worcester Street which people pronounce Worchester and everyone is the worst.

I know “Woosta” gets all the press, but the “Quinzee” pronunciation is really underrated in the grand scheme of “Why the fuck does that sound like THAT?”

Cool, thank you for the useful and relevant information.

Better this than my 401k. Wait, what do these guys do for a living?

He does not look a thing like the lifeguard I had a crush on that one summer.

He’s bringing about new lows every day. Today? Defending Buzzfeed...

It is like watching that 45 year old guy in pick up game . But, you know, how he sees himself.

Is McConnell the guy who couldn’t get a free dinner because he could not show a ticket to the game he played in?

No, but the grease trucks make vending machines look like farmers markets

You’ve obviously never been to a Rutgers food truck

The only logical reply.
