Well I could list the 94 aero I spent $1500 on for $5500, and the parts to fix it and mods to take it to 500 HP would still be under 10 grand. Seriously. Unfortunately eBay has a listing fee. So you'll have to use your imagination.

Fuck it. Brb, figuring out the exact prices for the mods I need, subtracting that from 10k, and listing my 94' Aero on ebay. Just to prove a point.
I'd post the guide to building a 500hp Saab 9000 again but eBay doesn't have any that qualify. (94-98 manual 2.3 turbo).
I refuse to believe that this is real.
It's a lease.
Wow, my junkyard Saab has had less problems than that.
Great analogy. My dad has had 10 Saabs throughout his life. Two were purchased new, and he regrets spending that much.
Late response, sorry. But in the original post, tav mentioned: "You can add modifications, as long as it doesn't go over the total budget." $3k 9000 + the mods needed to make it fast is a lot less than 10 grand.
As big of a Saab fan as I am, I still have to say CP. You can get a lot of car with 37 G's. This is not a lot of car.
I should have realized, sorry. The viggen is a nice car, no doubt, but the price it commands is hard to justify.
TCS throttle body can be swapped with a non TCS throttle body. Some 94-97 aeros also had TCS, so either learn how to do the swap or don't buy one with TCS. You're right though, probably better off getting a cable throttle car in the first place.
wat.
the b205 with b204 pistons and pauter b205 rods is good for 8500rpm. top end needs big cams to make use of the expanded top end, the stiffer volvo valve springs, and the 20mhz ecu.
Try close to 10-20k for that ls swap... search around on forums, swapping a motor costs a lot more than just the motor.
Right?
If you want the overbuilt bottom end, you want the ng900 or the 93-98 9000. Newer than that and you're both spending a lot more money, and getting a bottom end that can't handle more than 300whp. If you want super high revs, you get the ng900, if you want more displacement and better daily driveability, you get…
Ah, you fooled me with the a/t dash. 9K does seem to be the cheapest path to 500HP around. How close was I on that parts list?
Man I wish I had a Sonnett.. My mom had a last gen 9-5 with the turbo 6. Even in auto form it pulled HARD from 60.
The problem with v8 powered sleepers is everyone knows it's fast as soon as you start it up. The burble of a big v8 is unmistakeable.
