Most people have never heard of the actual best Superman game:

So you’re saying Flight of the Falcon didn’t scratch that itch?...
(If you’ve never heard of it, you’re probably better off. Sorry to taint your purity.)

Definitely with you on Empire NES not being anything close to the worst — I actually enjoyed it more than Star Wars back in the day, even though the final battle truly was just holding down the turbo button and hoping for the best.

Japan’s Star Wars is too charming and weird for me to place near the bottom — even if

Yep. That’s exactly what I did. :-)

Let me know if you want to borrow my copy of Star Warped, Chris. :-)

I legit loved Star Warped in its day. It was just that perfect time in the pre-Prequel era when Star Wars was pretty much the most exciting thing in the world.

The Game Boy version is secretly great (BurgerTime Deluxe — definitely NOT BurgerTime in Bedrock), largely because the controls were so forgiving. Worth a look if you’re a fan and you’ve never played it. I repurchased it for download on 3DS a few years ago.

The burgers are also all about the size of three or four stacked mattresses.

Heh... Yeah, I think I’m speaking more of from an “ideal scenario” perspective...but hopefully your kids are pretty ideal themselves. :-)

I hear you there. Sometimes I’m lazy if it defaults to subtitles on and don’t do anything about it. Or sometimes there’s just legitimately bad sound mixing, which sucks.

I can see that. There’s still a big part of me that just thinks it’s neat that games can talk in the first place! :-)

I hear you, Chris. I hope my comments didn’t come across as insensitive.

I’m 43, and I’m 100% with you here. I’ll never understand why so many gamers prefer subtitles on -- totally takes away from the cinematic nature of cutscenes for me. And, like you, I find myself reading text rather than looking at pretty graphics.

I was looking for someone else to have said this so I didn’t have to! But to be fair, there’s no period in Dr Pepper... :-)

Loved this back in the day — had no idea there was a sequel! I’ll have to check it out.

I remember what a weird experience it was reviewing this for the Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine. The original was one of the few games I ever gave a full five stars to, and I was incredibly excited to play the sequel. With no real hints that it would be anything less than the original until I played the review

Ah, here we go... Possibly smaller than Space Invaders?

I caught this footage from E3 (which has to be the same one, I imagine). I guess I didn’t get a wide shot, unfortunately.

Looks cool! And in the meantime, you can play two of the PS2's most underappreciated gems, which pretty much are straight-up tactical Dynasty Warriors games. :-)

Tangentially related, I played this Futurama game a bit back in the day, and one thing that always cracked me up was Fry saying “pew! pew! pew!” while he fired his blaster. Seven or eight years later, I was fortunate enough to work on the game Marvel vs. Capcom 3, wherein Deadpool says “BANG! BANG! BANG!” as he fires
