Same here. Bought ours used, and though it’s needed some work here and there, it hauled me, my wife, the daughter, one legged mother in law and her wheelchair, a 75 lb assuiedor, and our sh$t in a bag on the roof. From PA to FL and back, all with already 145,000.

Owned an 03 Freestyle, the perfect utilitarian wagon. Those last two rows folded totally flat and low, so with that wide stance and tall roofline, you could fit a lot of stuff back there. All with the fuel economy and soft ride of a sedan. That transmission made me swear off CVTs for life though.

I am probably in a minority when I say I liked the newer gen Taurus sedan... Owned a 08 limited AWD and loved it.

Remember, “Meh” doesn’t mean “Bad”, usually quite the opposite. They were perfectly functional cars, just less exciting than warm yogurt.

I still have my 2006 Freestyle. It was the perfect functional crossover. Lacks some speed but still capable of towing 2000 (which I often still do). I remember used car comparison shopping in 2008. It had more leg room and far more space behind the rear seat then any other 3x row vehicle minus Suburban/Expedition.…

I actually love the Flex.

I think I rented one once. If I recall correctly, the last row of seats took an inordinate amount of space when folded down.

We have a Flex, like that I can ride around in the 3rd row and not be miserable, riding in the 2nd row is like being chauferred. And it easily fits a ton of stuff as it is a big box and can do some major Tetris. It isn’t perfect, like the mpg could be better but wasn’t out of line with the comparables at the time, and…
