Overall, the LARPing scene didn’t bother me, but I did find it bizarre when he said “This is my only chance to be a hero.” Like, sir, you are literally a firefighter! One of our most universially celebrated heroic professions!

Two episodes in. Unless this dramatically falls off a cliff, this is worth checking out. Don’t let negative reviews turn you off to this.
See, what I didn't do was run out and rebinge the whole anime series in the run-up to this - therein lies the road to anal gripe-a-tude. The show is way better if the anime is somewhere in your subconscious and not in recent memory.
Three episodes in and I’m loving it. The cast is fantastic. The vibe is just perfect. The action could definitely be better, there are some great choreography, but a lot of the editing decisions hampered the flow somewhat.
Okay, so I just finished the first episode, and I loved it. I think the main cast is great, I think it gets the spirit of the show and I probably annoyed the hell out of my husband every time I said “I know this song!”. My only conplaint is the lack of "The Real Folk Blues" in the end credits. I hope my enthusiasm…
I dodged that bullet. Never interested me back in the day, doesn’t interest me now.
Man, this exchange:
Creators are so caught up in subverting expectations today that they quite often forget what made the originals classic in the first place. Star Trek has always been fairly subdued. It’s a look at the brighter side of science fiction. The new Star Trek has characters who act like children, ruled by emotions,…
I’ve really tried to like this show, even going as far as fully understanding and accepting that Trek evolves etc.
No one can withstand the power of the Mary Sue!
I watched the first two seasons more out of obligation and the faintest flicker of hope that the show would eventually find its footing. I don’t think it’s a total wash: there are a few characters that I like and always at least a whiff of potential in the margins, even when the show makes one catastrophic unforced…
The people behind Into Darkness are the main creatives behind the modern crop of shows. This might explain a lot.
There was no “new rule” created...
As someone who modeled and did some acting in her youth that’s actually the law...
There were no sexual assault allegations against him which was my point...
Well, with everything that’s come out it seems pretty clear that Whedon is a first-class asshat, going all the way back to Buffy and right up through Justice League. He consistently fostered a cliquey environment on-set, he heaped praise on his “favorites” and was brutally cruel to anyone who upset him for pretty much …
Joss Whedon is accused of being a tyrant and an asshole, screaming at cast members, and cruel comments to women. Hos treatment of Charisma was terrible. However, sexual harassment, of the kind alleged here, has not been alleged against Whedon.
My understanding was that Dollhouse was her show and she specifically requested that Joss Whedon be brought in. So even more evidence she did not have an issue with him.
By all the accounts so far, Whedon was a psychological terrorist and emotional bully, but not a sexual abuser. Not saying the former isn’t horrible, and Carpenter, Benson, and others are still clearly dealing with the trauma of it.
Holy fucking shit, WTF is this crap! How in the fuck was this behavior that didn’t make many many people who saw it call the studio or leak shit to get this fucker fired.
