So this headline *isn't* referring to My World of Flops, and how The AV Club is canceling it and putting one of their best writers out of work while they chase those sweet clicks with Great Job Internet updates?

I'm really tired of people trying to minimize Murphy's involvement in People vs OJ so they can feel okay liking it. The man put together the cast, the concept, the creative team, and directed multiple episodes. And you know what? He did a fantastic job.
I've always been a huge Ryan Murphy fan, and seeing critics reluctantly praise him these past couple years has been nice. He may make messy campfests from time to time, but at least they're memorable. Feud may be my favorite thing he's ever done, much better than OJ in my opinion.
Unless you're somehow related to Charlie Hides (or you ARE Charlie Hides), I'm completely baffled by this. He was terrible in the challenge and somehow even worse in the lip sync.
I'm surprised by the negative review. I thought Justin Barber's last album was surprisingly good. "Sorry" was a jam, and "What Do U Mean" was catchy as hell. And this time he teamed up with renowned poet T.S. Nowlin, the inspiration for Lloyd Webber's Cats?! Seems like a slam dunk.
This is an excellent comment. I'm also curious, having not seen the Persona 5 scene in question, if anything got lost in translation between the Japanese to US localization. If the characters are "lisping" isn't that the fault of whoever directed the American voice actors? I'm not defending the scene, I'm just curious…
The argument I saw for dismissing what The Great Wall and GITS creators said is that Asians are so obsessed with white people and American culture that they can't be expected to be "woke" about their own creations. Which…yeah, I'm not stepping into that minefield, but it made me cringe. Believe it was in a Hollywood…
I said the same thing in another comment, that I'd rather not be represented than be represented poorly. Though I do think Dragon Age: Inquisition did really well with its gay romances. Iron Bull and Dorian are two of the best and most complex characters in the game.
Kotaku is a great site, but there's always some dickheads in the comments. And I still can't figure out how to get un-grayed over there.
The AV Club is about as liberal as an entertainment site can be, sometimes to a ridiculous degree (see: the TV Personalities You Hate article). But it does make it nice for discussing video games.
I'll admit I know nothing about how Japan views LGBT people, but I'd be surprised if they're bigoted just based on the anime I've seen. As a gay man, it does seem a bit outdated that I can't romance a man in Persona 5. But I also don't want a token inclusion with no real depth like in Mass Effect: Andromeda. I'd…
Maher is pretty easy to hate though, in that Richard Dawkins kinda way.
I was hoping one of them would despise Rachel Maddow or something just to shake things up. What boring choices.
If this leads to more Portia de Rossi in Santa Clarita Diet season 2 I'm all for it. Sad (and shocked) to see her go, though.
Yeah, I'm tired of seeing "Stockholm Syndrome" misused to describe this movie. The AV Club review did it as well. Terms have meanings, people!
That is exactly what the movie is about. You could be a screenwriter!
I dunno, I liked this movie well enough. People act like it didn't deal with or recognize the creepy moral question at its center, but it certainly did and the entire second act is devoted to the ramifications of that choice. It's still a really weird moral quandary to base a sci-fi romance around, but it's not like…
I'm surprised E hasn't snatched him up for something. Vapid and empty is their entire brand.
Funny is good. When I was watching Better Call Saul this week, I was thinking about how some of the great cable dramas like Breaking Bad and Mad Men are actually really, really funny at times. A lot of lesser shows miss that in an attempt to be as serious and grim as possible.
To be fair to this film, all of these recent psycho thriller movies are completely forgettable until the climax. I remember being particularly annoyed with how bad Obsessed was until it got to the Beyoncé vs Ali Larter showdown.
