This is The AV Club, where someone is required to blame everything from United flights to the Nielsen ratings on Trump's America.

As for The Get Down, I only watched the pilot and thought it was one of the worst pilots I've ever seen. I've heard it gets much better, but based on the lack of buzz and the lack of comments in this thread I don't expect it to return. I'm more fascinated by the story of how Netflix gave Baz Luhrrman nearly $200

So which episode of 13 Reasons Why is your favorite? Personally I'm a big fan of episode 5, which really nailed the complicated feelings queer kids can have about coming out to their peers.

It's surprisingly not very depressing as of yet. I really like the way it's structured to tell episodic stories, which is a lost art amongst Netflix originals. I think anyone who enjoys teen dramas mixed with mystery stories would enjoy it.

Since I don't think anybody cares about The Get Down, can we use these comments as a 13 Reasons Why discussion thread? It's structure is so perfectly suited for episodic reviews that it's annoying The AV Club didn't deem it worthy. I just finished episode 5 and it was pretty great.

Huh, a headline Sean O'Neal didn't write actually made me laugh. I must be mad as a hatter!

Stephen King is just jealous that James Patterson became a kajillionaire best-selling author without doing that tedious "write your own books" thing. Hell, I'm jealous too. He makes god knows how much money to slap his name on books and make someone else write them.

Not since The OC has a show overestimated my interest in real estate scandals. I'm not even sure I could tell you what's going on with Hiram Lodge and Archie's dad, because I tend to zone out every time it's mentioned. At least next week's episode looks interesting.

For me, Buffy Summers was always the best part of Buffy. I related to her character more than any other. I don't get it when people say they love a show but can't stand the main character. I don't think I've ever felt that way about something I enjoyed.

I can't think of one good thing Zach Braff has done in his inexplicably long career. I guess maybe his small role in Broken Hearts Club was fine.

It's nice to imagine a world where Lauryn Hill gets it together and releases a triumphant comeback album. But it's been almost 20 years (jesus, I'm aging rapidly), so I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

HBO shows get non-stop buzz though, so their Emmy nominations are expected. Showtime has always had a buzz-building problem, which is why even deserving actors like Emmy Rossum and Eva Green get shut out. Somehow they fooled the Emmys with Homeland, though.

That was meant to be a twist, but it was so poorly executed in the episode that it just flew by without much consequence. I hope they explain it further before the end of the series.

No TV show's overall quality depends on how it lands in the end. People are far too obsessed with endings, and often discount the dozens of excellent hours that made up the entire journey.

I was bothered by the Dr Edwards thing for a couple reasons. 1) I really liked that character and actor. 2) The reveal that he's missing and presumed dead (huh?) came out of nowhere, and the show didn't treat it as a particularly big revelation even though we've never known Norman to hallucinate anyone besides Mother.

This is a nice story and I'm glad the Academy responded so thoughtfully, but let's not pretend like Showtime's Billions is going to get any Emmy nominations.

Now that this wonderful series is over, let me stop lurking and say I've really enjoyed these reviews and this comment section. 99% of comment sections exist to snark and hate on things, so I was shocked when I discovered so many intelligent people here discussing a show they loved. Why can't the rest of the internet

Is that Clickhole thing still around or did they give up on that too?

This was a pretty great episode of Scandal. Yes, some of us still enjoy this show!

I hated both The Witch and Pretty Thing. Sure, these directors can do atmospheric horror, but maybe find a script with an interesting story where something happens while you're at it.
