Certainly on an individual level, it can and does exist, and in your case is inverted. There are jobs where a man and woman provide identical levels of employment where there is a discrepancy in wage. But the way it is advertised 77 cents on the dollar is where the myth is. That number is simply all the hours worked…

Do their male coworkers have more seniority? I imagine people who steal from work when they’re unhappy probably don’t keep jobs for too long.

My experience is entirely anecdotal, but in every job I’ve had, I, a man, have made far less than my female counterparts. I’m not saying the pay gap isn’t real, I’m saying that it probably depends on your industry.
