You know that a lot of kids are born or forced into this, right?

She didn’t join, she was raised in the cult. smh

As someone who has read her book it’s more like years of indoctrination and damaging emotional abuse that started when she was a teen. So try again.

Could we maybe also drop the idea that if you don’t wear make up you don’t care about how you look or that you don’t care about yourself in general? Can’t we just make the choices we want and not worry about the different choices someone else makes? I know I know crazy. But I don’t wear makeup. I just never have.

I don’t see why she had to apologize to begin with.

a big ol fuck up followed by some decent apologies / basic accountability feels like an honest to God palate cleanser at this point.

If you think that sounded rational then you personally may be fucked.

It definitely feels like one. I get where they are coming from but I can’t seem to scrounge up the indignation they are looking for, it just doesn’t seem relevant.

I dunno if that means I’m biased or willing to overlook parts of people I don’t like....sigh I just don’t know.

Is it ever appropriate for me to contact someone who isn’t my direct representative to show my displeasure at what they are doing? For example, maybe I don’t like that the Senate isn’t giving a hearing to Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, but

I’ll never forget watching the Dixie Chicks burned at the stake in 2003, in the lead-up to the Iraq War. They were one of my favorite country groups– I loved their vision of American freedom. It was horrible seeing all that creativity trampled under the boot of jingoism.

Yeah, god forbid you just like an artist and/or are pleased when they do well. Brace yourself for a lot of “well, actually...” :-/

So, just so we are clear here is a quick summary of Tammy Duckworth’s life:

Enough rude men, indeed, Gina. Enough indeed.

Yes

“The key is that I’m the king and every queen should support the king.”= Automatic grounds for divorce.

“Later, he called and left me a message. ‘Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you,’” she said. “He thought that I would try to go out with him...”
