What they're doing is inciting a riot, not preventing one.
What they're doing is inciting a riot, not preventing one.
My family still lives there and they have been arrested by Ferguson police twice in our history of living there, for housing code violations. Because our yard wasn't pretty enough. They even brought the police chief out (he was wearing a cowboy hat, I distinctly remember) and crudely arrested my father. I say crude,…
You're kidding with this, right? You should watch that livestream video. They were not rioting when they were fired upon. I am hoping you're kidding.
First the militarized police came for Occupy Wall Street, and I did not speak out, because I was not OWS protester
He is - or was - at a birthday party at a country club.
just keep talking about it, sharing it, shining a light on it. We fail at change in this country in large part because our short attention spans.
Send in the National Guard to restore order. It's been done before. It's ridiculous that he hasn't even released a statement though.
head down there. Tell everyone you know to. Let's see if they will gas white grandmothers (and if they do, fuck, don't piss off old people)
If only these protests would actually change how the police act in this country. Literally, the only people who care about what's going on in Ferguson are socially aware people. The rest of the anesthetized masses remain happily uncaring and unmoved to what happens to Black and Brown people.
We all laugh at conspiracy theories, but some of them have been warning about the militarization of police for years now (and all the music videos and toys that have been slowly making us be used to the idea), and look at this situation right now. Doesn't sound too crazy anymore, huh? If this shit doesn't scare you, I…
So... when does an abuse of authority get to the point of being so out of hand that an even bigger authority will step in?
I'm a white male who lives elsewhere, and at the moment, this is the only thing on my Facebook feed. My feed is mostly white people, mostly on the coasts, and all they're talking about is how horrifying this is. A handful of fairly conservative people are hosting conversations saying the same.
I have to take a step away from this because I'm beyond angry, sad and sickened that an entire community has been turned into a war zone with no accountability and a civilian police force using weapons of war against American citizens. How is this happening? And where the FUCKING HELL is our president?!?
So, conservatives, this is an ACTUAL example of the Bill of Rights being trampled on. Freedom of the Press? That's a pretty big one. This is horrifying.
I grew up in St. Louis in one of the few integrated areas in the 70's and 80's (not Ferguson). This whole story makes me want to cry. I am white but grew up in a mixed part of town, and went to a majority black high school. People got along. Reading these stories makes me ashamed to be from St. Louis.
I think the best we can do while living elsewhere is spread the word. The media is unable to get in there and say what is happening, these people are potentially risking their lives posting these videos and we must help them spread it.
What. The. Fuck. is a civilian police force doing with battlefield weapons?
I'm not sure whoever is in charge in Ferguson knows:
What. The. Fuck. is a civilian police force doing with battlefield weapons? I know how it happened: defense industry lobbyists. My question is who on earth thinks arming and equipping peacekeepers with this type of gear will result in anything less that the full spectrum chaos that Ferguson has descended into?
I'm a white male who lives elsewhere. This makes me want to cry. I wish I knew what I could do to help other than sit on social media.
