The exact dollar amount doesn’t matter. People who resell create an artificial scarcity and then have the audacity to sell an item they bought with no intention of using themselves to someone else for above the MSRP. Sure, you can say it’s just supply and demand economics, but if you’re creating an artificial scarcity…
She looks really good.
There are plenty of other non-dickish ways to “make extra money during school.”
Thanks for being part of the problem. You’re not a bad person, you don’t eat kittens or anything, but you’re doing something bad and don’t pretend you’re better than ‘those other resellers’. You are the problem, fix it or stop pretending you’re better.
Lilly Pulitzer for Target too. Totally awful and rude.
People that need extra money don’t spend the money they do have on things they don’t need or want in the hopes that someone will pay them more than it’s worth. I’ve been on eBay for 11 years and most resellers are either students spending their parents’ money or bored housewives.
It’s also assuming that other people don’t have commitments that prevent them from hanging out at a Target all morning. Like oh, I don’t know... a real job they have to be at before Target even opens, maybe?
Oh yeah, I remember that! It didn’t interest me but I felt bad for people who wanted the sequin dress, for instance. I thought it was already a bit too pricey at retail but throw in a resellers’ markup on top of that and a lot of people who thought they could get a nice party/prom dress at a decent price just got…
You don’t think you’re a bad person, but at a 25% markup you might be wrong.
If you buy one of each item, that’s whatever. It’s more so the people who clean house and leave nothing for people trying to actually something at an affordable price.
I remember when Target released some big designer at significantly discounted prices and lines were out the door only for people to get there to have almost everything swooped up by re-sellers.
I remember when one of the limited designer lines with a big retailer came out, within a day the stores and online were sold out and ebay listings were popping up at ridiculous markups. Within a week the store announced they were restocking the entire line, and I laughed and laughed at all the ebayers who’d jumped the…
People who resell shit at absurd markups are the worst. Broadway tickets, limited clothing releases, when new Nike’s drop, etc...
And that, ladies and gentleman, is how LaComtesse finally scored a ticket for Novemeber*. Now, if you’ll excuse me...
Yes, it does. I live in an old neighborhood in Austin, just north of UT. The houses in this area were almost all built in the 20's (Hyde Park/North University). Pemberton, Old West Enfield and Judge’s Hill are also neighborhoods filled with older houses.
Here is your daily apples and oranges argument.
Follow-up! I used your Q in this week’s Esquire column — I hope you enjoy it!
I feel like the skirt and top should be higher. The whole outfit should be lifted up a few inches so that she's showing her upper rib area rather than that weird stretch of abs.
