I thought they booked Sting because Bono was too busy accepting his woman of the year award from Glamour magazine to perform.

I'm reading "Stalin's Englishmen"—I have this fascination with Cambridge Spies, and how they managed to work as sleeper agents and sometimes as double agents. Its amazing how Kim Phiby and esp. Guy Burgess were able to manage undetected for so long.
Not yet, but it could be easily arranged. ;)
If you did a Venn diagram of Trump supporters and country fans of a certain ilk, I am sure you'd have almost a perfect circle.
But…The written word is a lie!
"Too old to rock and roll, too young to die. Well, I guess I better learn that I-IV-V chord progression now and learn to solo endlessly in the minor pentatonic."
As a student of German, I have to say that as difficult as this language is to learn, the expressiveness of nouns is unbeatable. And fun.
This is yet another reason why I don't listen to modern country. The CMA has more than a few white sheets on hangers in their closet..
A little after my time unfortunately. I was there in the early to mid 80s, when there were just a few of us dark souls gathering about our turntables, drinking cheap vodka and discussing nihilism over the droning sounds of Einsturzten Neubaten, Souxsie and the Banshees and the Cure. Rachel Ray laughs at her own jokes. Never trust someone who laughs at their own jokes. I will grant her one thing; she not even close to being annoying as Sandra Lee is aka Food Networks favorite stay at home cook/lush.
Ah yes Goth—the period of my life when my college roommate declared I had enough black clothing to go to every Italian funeral in the PIttsburgh PA area for an entire year.
I think last nights game is proof that 2016 is the weirdest year in recent memory. I am more than convinced than ever that Bowie's death caused an element shift in the universe.
Don Marshall, RIP. Being only a decade away from Amos 'n' Andy, and other 1950s racial stereotypes, his statement about making "sure that whatever I was doing was right and that the characters I played were very strong people. I tried to bring out the best in the person I played.” is huge.
I seem to remember a SPIN magazine review of the year back in the mid 1980s where they sarcastically cited Bono as "healing the sick, erasing poverty and bringing about world peace". I guess he can add being a woman of the year to this list.

After working a week straight, I'm going to carve up some pumpkins and watch the Shining with my youngest.
After reading Morrissey's autobiography, I seriously wonder why anyone would want to be in a band with him. Love the Smiths, but boy—Morrissey was a bit of a prick.
Somethings AFOOT! (sorry, it had to be said)
As a kid, I was fine with Hammer films and most of the Universal monsters. But for some reason, Invasion of the Saucer Men freaked me out. My sisters let me watch it when they were babysitting me—I slept with a flashlight for a week, sure the aliens were going to get me.
