Considering the bill in VA doesn’t really cost much. Virginia has a short legislative session that alternates between 2 and 3 months each year. Every delegate and senator submits bills for consideration for the session. It will go to committee first (and hopefully not get passed to the floor). If it goes to the House…

I still recommend calling or writing your NoVa delegate so they can say constituents oppose this bill. Their staffers are easy to contact and should still be reachable at their district office phone number.

It hasn’t been passed yet. Just proposed. It still has to make it out of committee, through a floor vote in the House, a floor vote in the Senate, and to the Democratic Governor.

Virginia as a state is overall pretty conservative and with the tremendous amount of unfavorables Clinton had, it still went for her. I tend to think that bodes well for Democrats who will have significantly less baggage and unfavorables.

Another Dem just announced his candidacy today! He is far more progressive that the LG.

We also have some outstanding Dem’s in the House of Delegates and the State Senate. They are unfortunately outnumbered right now.

At least we have Patrick Hope, Alfonso Lopez, and Marcus Simon! Hillary won PG county so we should be able to vote out the R’s.

Call your delegate! Let them know you are against the bill. They only have one legislative staffer so you don’t have to jump through a ton of interns and other staff like you do with congressional offices. Unless you live in Richmond, your delegate’s staffer is still in their district office so I’d call that number…

A friend gave me brownies in high school with a very thin layer of melted Ande’s mints on top and oh. my. god. they are delightful. I still make them for parties and they are always well-received.
