They even added in a wizard to fill the role of Gandalf, despite the fact that there were only five wizards in all of middle earth, three of which are old bearded men and are accounted for, and the other two are in the east, not the north. Still, despite all the lore-mutilation, I did love to play those old LoTR hack

This game makes me feel conflicted. On the one hand, I was kinda hoping for a Breath of Fire Sequel, and the setting does seem painfully generic (they even named a class after a Lord of the Rings character!) But it looks like it has some very nice monster designs and somewhat realistic armor and weapons, which is a

Not only the airplane flight combat genre has been decimated. Where is my next rogue squadron? My next Colony Wars? I can't remember the last time a good space fighter game came out.

I would love to see some more fps hack & slashes. Mount and Blade and the Elder Scrolls games are the only games to come to mind that I have played with this sort of gameplay.

It looks great, I have a few misgivings, but It has been far too long since I last played an Elder Scrolls game, definitely looking forward to this!

Why don't they just call it Demon Stone II? It is obvious that this game has nothing to do with LOTR lore, so might as well be honest.

There was a war up there, but it had nothing to do with what we have been shown so far.

You've seen Middle Earth before, but you've never seen our Middle Earth." Darn straight, this has nothing to do with the war in the north as mentioned by the books. THAT war in the north consisted of two parts: 1) Galadriel and her husband storming Sauron's keep in Mirkwood. 2) Easterlings sacking Dale and fighting a

A similar problem appears to be keeping Korea out of Shogun 2: Total War, even though the timeframe for the game is be hundreds of years ago.

The disappearance of the classes doesn't worry me as much as some of the other changes, but it does make me worry about what appears to be a trend towards cutting down on features. from 21 to 18 skills now? No Mysticism? Stamina, Health or Magic when leveling up? It makes me wonder where else they are cutting down on

@MichaelPalin: I agree. having enemy types disappear after going up a few levels was a poor decision, it worked better in Fallout III, but it was still noticeable. Morrowind definitely had the best system for placing enemies.

Dual-wielding magic has me a little concerned. I can understand having a free hand being a requirement for casting spells, but why would having two hands free give you the ability to cast a different spell from each hand? Unless certain spells only work with your left or right hand, why can't you use all of your

@Foxstar is in love with Kotaku's two Brians.: Exactly, pretty much all of the spellcasting of a more traditional sort is a result of the spellcaster either having a ring of power (Galadrial, Elrond) being a Maiar (Saruman), or both (Gandalf). Most of the magic is in the form of artifacts or words/writing/oaths. D&D

@Skip-bo: I really wish, this just looks like more of the same - cramming more action and explosions in at the expense of actual faithfulness to the books. (orcs running around in broad daylight, trolls everywhere, crossbows, easterlings on fell beasts, spellcasters everywhere, female warriors that aren't shield

@Fluorine: The Fortress was called Dol Guldur, and the Necromancer was another name for Sauron (because he created the ringwraiths) I hope that that isn't an Easterling or orc riding the fell beast. It seems odd that Sauron would be handing out something so rare and valuable to a non ringwraith...the fell beasts were
