I use a combination. Spotify and Pandora for discovery. Zune for collecting my new discoveries for playback when I am out of network, which is fairly often on a plane or in my not so covered area I live in.

I would add a bootable OS on a thumb drive, another with all of your favorite apps/tools on it. I would also go as far as keeping CD copies just in case you do not have USB options (it has happened)
