I for one, as a big fan of the original and of science fiction in general, have great hopes for this movie and I really hope that it can stand on its own when compared to the original. This probably one of my most antecipated movies this year.

I know what's that like. I feel like that for a quite a few classically respected films. For example, Apocalypse Now is regarded as a masterpiece and when I was watching it I just couldn't really get into it.
I don't know if it's because I was young when I watched it (like maybe 16 or so) or because I'm not American…
With Jonah as president and Selina as his veep, so that we can come full circle
I assumed Hannah was in some sort of orphanage or school. And commander's children dress in white right? She was in pink - maybe because she's being trained to be a future handmaid?
Yeah that also bothered me a lot - is he just a wizard now? I figured that the sunglasses had something to do with it, but it still felt like a big stretch
Yeah I thought that too, but then I was like, if he died in an explosion, I don't know if the regenaration powers would be able to fix that, he would basically be blow to bits. And i think they've mentioned that there's some limits to the powers
I'm going to admit that i don't know what is that a reference for, and I don't feel like googling it
I don't think you were actually replying to me, but anyway I'm gonna share my opinion on that. I don't think Serena was mad at him because of the handmaid system itself - because we have seen that she was a sort of architect in all that. I think she was mad at the way he broke the rules he himself did and had those…
I agree with your point of view about Nick and the reasons he acted the way he did, and yeah, obviously the thing with him was bound to end one way or another. It was more the way that June reacted, assuming it was jealousy and then actually trying to apologize - I was thinking of the June from earlier episodes, that…
Yes I very much agree. This is very much the women's story of couse, but If they want to build up the world of Gilead we obviously need to see some of the men's story and see their roles in the present world and in how this world came to be
Yeah I also found it very weird, the way that June just seems to go whatever she wants and do whatever in that house. Very implausible that Serena would not be aware of the visits to the office. And even to Nick's room, like at the beggining of the episode it seemed that she spent the night with him - how is it…
I liked this episode a lot more than the last one and I don't agree with some of the review's opinions. Luke's episode just seemed to show us a lot of thing we already knew and felt redundant at some places.
I found Nick's backstory interesting and I always like to learn more on how Gilead came to be and I liked that…
Yeah I also got the impression the guardians were not just "guarding" the women. For the way she was screaming and fighting when she was asleep and then with what the nun was saying, I got the idea they were raping them too.
Yeah making it a global infertility crisis is also kind of a strech to me. I could understand an extremely religious group, who sees infertility as God's punishment, not wanting to "conspurcate" the procration process by doing it through medically assisted reproduction techniques. But saying that other countries don't…
With all of time and space on their disposal, and we're back to the something's-killing-people-on-a-spaceship plotline. I honestly didn't care about what was going to happen just because I had already guessed that, as usual, we would meet 1 or 2 maybe interesting characters, but then in the end only the doctor and the…
Thanks for the backstory info, as I said, I haven't read the book. I really wanna see if I get my hands on it though, because I'm loving the series and I guess there's always so much that gets left out
Pretty much like any arranged marriage then? I see then. I thought they were assigned like the handmaids are based on that line on the first episode, about Nick being lower class.
But the Econowives are also "assigned" to the husbands right? So there's still lot of potential awfulness to be had if you end up with a forceful ot violent husband. I think in this world, the less contact you have with the men, the better off you are, so the Marthas seem to be the "better" placed I guess
I hadn't even thought about it from that point of view, but yeah that's also true. The Wifes are just around to look pretty, run the house and to be the potential mothers and the Handmaids just do the shopping (aside from the monthly rape of course). At least the Marthas have tasks to do all day long.
This article blew my mind! I just recently watched the show, so most of these actors seemed unknown to me, but then I find ou that Ben Horne (whose actor's name or face I honestly didn't know from anywhere else) was actually Tony in the West Side Story, Donna's mom is the Deschanel's mother (I see it now, the eyes are…
