Or is it edited to tell that particular story?

About as proud as Ben Affleck was of getting Henry Louis Gates fired over that "great great grandpa was a slave owner" coverup.
I'm sure that guy got more coverage on this show than he would have in the movie. Or maybe he's some random guy chilling in the buffet line.

Can't make Jason look bad, can they? This show is all about making Effie look bad.

So the guy playing the chauffeur could have played her son. See, problem solved just like that.

In real life, short of coming in with a machine gun, nobody cares how you get along with your co-workers. They care about budget and schedule. If Effie comes in on budget and schedule she's done her job. A lot better than the person everybody loved who spent twice what the budget was and came in a week late.

Effie's black and the designated villian to the series, so there's that.

not constantly, just every time he sees a black person.

So a show where a black woman dares to say something other than "I'se sure be lucky to wipe the butt of somebody who be as talented as you, Massa Jason" can only come up with the words "Hot Ghetto Mess" to describe her. Got it.

So in other words he's not going to actually do anything, he's just going to "be supportive" which costs him nothing. What he could do is announce what his salary is and let the actress involved in the movie negotiate from there. That would be concrete action that's helpful.

It's about hiring a good agent. Bradley Cooper got more because he asked for more. When the studio offered 7% of gross on American Hustle Jennifer Lawrence said "OK" and Bradley Cooper said "that's not gonna work." If the women are mad at anybody they ought to be mad at their agents or whoever negotiated those

Sorry, if I'm hiring somebody to build a deck or something I want the guy who's done it 17 times, not the guy who's done it once. But that's just me.
Effie's the raisin in the bowl of oatmeal, of course they hate her. Somebody's got to be the goat, who fits that role better than the woman of color?

how does he pay for the lavish lifestyle and film school? independently wealthy?

Put more people on it? That's like saying if a woman can have a baby in 9 months 9 women should be able to do it in one month. If I don't want to sign a document having six people knock on the door isn't going to help.

And how much would moving the whole cast and crew to Georgia cost? And did Ben tell her at the time Vampire could shoot on film? And if the movie blows it budget it better make a ton of money, which this probably won't if it doesn't get a commercial release.

Well, Effie got hired 17 times. That's more than most people in Hollywood can say.
And I believe she gets measured on bring the production in on time and on budget, not stroking Jason's ego.
Also, you know they only show what the producers of the show wants shown, don't you?

Like the OP said, they wanted a hot white woman. Grace constantly showing Ben Franklin the back of her hand - that would be interesting.

Actually an interesting movie would be to compare Malala's life today with not-Malala's current life. Whatever happened to the other girls on that bus that day?

Glee was that show I fell in love with and Glee screwed me over, damn it. I'm still salty.
Plus I can't help but wonder if this was the bribe Fox used to make them do the last two seasons. Well, that and a big ole check.
Besides which, notice how quickly the comments broke down to "if you don't like it don't watch it

Sounds like typical Ryan Murphy to me. Anybody who complains is gonna get slapped with #angryblackwoman and #pcPolice.

cause if he's a white male he must be a great writer. Cause he said so.
