Honest question: If everyone looking to better themselves is accused of faking it, then what’s the point of demanding and wanting terrible people to better themselves?

It seems like you can’t ever work on yourself and try to be better without everyone pointing out how terrible you were and that you are beyond

Jean Simmons’ casting is basically the only way Black Narcissus is dated. If you’ve read the book you know that all the nun characters were quite racist. They confined those sentiments to Sister Ruth for the movie, as she is the villain. Pretty woke for 1947. The book was Godden’s first and while it was a bestseller

I think a lot of people who haven’t seen the new show think it’s some kind of conservative soapbox, and it really isn’t. The episode dealing with Harris is the only one that has a hint of “people younger than the Baby Boomers don’t know how to do things right,” and it was definitely the weakest one that I’ve seen.

Ah, give it a whirl. I’m finding these reviews very whiny, and not my experience with the show. I’m laughing out loud - literally - at every episode. They only mention Trump in the premiere and it’s hardly a soapbox for Barr’s off-screen views.

It is overstuffed with characters for a 21-minute-per-week show, but that

I agree with so much of this. It’s like a child plugging their ears and yelling, “Lalalalalalalala!” when something isn’t catering to their view perfectly.

Alex just said a lot things I’ve been saying ever since Danette started reviewing this show with an open mind, which is laughable. Her expectations that a 22 minute sitcom should somehow be able to feature the large cast evenly over 10 episodes is crazy. With just 10, they had to hone in on 10 stories they could tell

Yeah...my mom inexplicably went from progressive-hippy-artist-union-member to pro-MAGA-NRA-Bible-thumper in ten years time. It’s a complete mystery to the family.

I struggle with similar emotions. Especially right after the election, I was determined to take steps to not benefit any Republican voters.

I’m currently using SNAP benefits right now, because I’m unemployed in NM and we have the highest unemployment rate in the entire country. My point is: I was very surprised and pleased with the scene in the grocery store where the neighbor finds out you can’t buy a pre-roasted chicken or anything that’s deemed

Agreed.. the portrayal of Roseanne on the show is much like people I actually know. I actually appreciate the portrayal as a somewhat accurate one of a type of person that’s almost entirely unrepresented on TV right now.. the same subtleties of character and conflicts in word and deed that some people write off as

I’m anti-Trump, but I like this new season of Roseanne, even if I don’t agree with her 100%. My parents, aunts, sister, grandmother, in general my whole extended family is Republican. I used to vote that way, and I get the mindset. I used to listen to Limbaugh, and believed that taxation was theft, but when my actual

I think the show has been fine, even if they’ve leaned a few too far into “very special episode” territory a few too many times, but ...
